Several class action complaints were filed against Sony Corporation of America, Inc., Sony Electronics, Inc., and Sony Corporation relating to Sony SXRD Rear Projection television models KDS-R50XBR1 and KDS-R60XBR1. These suits were consolidated as the Sony SXRD Rear Projection Television Class Action Litigation, before the Honorable Robert P. The lawsuit alleged that the televisions were sold with a latent and inherent defect in a component known as the “Optical Block,” which causes “green blobs,” “yellow stains,” and other color anomalies to be displayed across their screens.

The parties reached a settlement of the litigation, which was approved by the Court on May 1, 2008, and the Settlement is now final. Click here for a link to the terms of the settlement.
